The Love Sandwich A.K.A a panini. I got this expression from an article on Oprah who apparently makes awesome sandwiches for friends and family. It expanded my notion of this basic food and sparked my creativity. I've been doing paninis for a while, adding things like avocado to the mix, so I wanted to see how adventurous the teenagers would get. My sandwich included honey ham, spinach, hummus and wasabi horseradish. The boys, well, Thing 1 chose a salad on the side of the basic ham & cheese. Thing 2 slapped all that together, then added hot sauce. Everyone was fed, and as the story in Oprah magazine intended to convey, the most important ingredient to the evening was LOVE. And knowing that (considering I was annoyingly taking pictures of them at each step of making a simple meal) I was completely in the moment with my boys.

Teenage Boy #1: The ketchup made it work.
Teenage Boy #2: G - U - D. gud.

fill her two teenage sons with some good home cookin' before they graduate high
school and go running for the hills, never to eat a leaf of spinach again.
Guess I'll throw in some desserts so they come back every once in a while.
Cheers!
